How to update Roblox
Quick answer
On a PC or Mac, close Roblox completely and open it again; it checks for and installs updates automatically. On phones and tablets, update it like any app in the App Store or Google Play. On Xbox, updates install automatically, or you can check under My games & apps > Manage.
Roblox pushes small updates often, sometimes weekly. If you see a message saying your version is out of date, or a game won’t load, an update is usually the fix.
How to update Roblox on each device
| Device | How to update |
|---|---|
| Windows PC (from roblox.com) | Close Roblox fully, then open it again. The launcher downloads the update. |
| Windows PC (Microsoft Store) | Open Microsoft Store > Library > Get updates |
| Mac | Quit Roblox (Command + Q) and reopen it |
| iPhone or iPad | App Store > tap your profile picture > scroll to Roblox > Update |
| Android | Google Play > profile picture > Manage apps & device > Updates available |
| Xbox | Press the Xbox button > My games & apps > Manage > Updates |
What to do if Roblox won’t update
- Restart the device, not just the app.
- Check your internet connection and storage space; updates fail quietly when the disk is nearly full.
- Reinstall Roblox. Uninstall it, then download it again from roblox.com or your app store. Your account, friends and items are saved online, so nothing is lost.
- On Windows, if the launcher keeps failing, right-click it and choose Run as administrator once.
If a computer driver problem is causing crashes, updating your graphics driver often helps games run more smoothly too.
