Where to download it
| Device | Where to get it | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Android phone | Google Play Store | Free |
| iPhone | Apple App Store | Free |
| Windows PC | Microsoft Store | Desktop app, linked to your phone |
| Mac | Mac App Store | Desktop app, linked to your phone |
| Any browser | web.whatsapp.com | Nothing to install |
Using WhatsApp on a computer
After installing the desktop app, open Settings → Linked devices on your phone, tap Link a device, and scan the QR code on your computer screen. You can link up to four devices, and they keep working even when your phone is offline. Prefer not to install anything? WhatsApp Web works the same way in a browser. If scanning is new to you, here’s how to scan a QR code.
Avoid fake versions
Apps called “WhatsApp Plus,” “GB WhatsApp” and similar modified versions are not official. They can carry malware, and WhatsApp may ban accounts that use them. Only download the app from an official store or whatsapp.com, and check that the developer is WhatsApp LLC.
WhatsApp vs WhatsApp Business
WhatsApp Business is a separate free app for small businesses, with features like a business profile, catalog and quick replies. For chatting with friends and family, the regular WhatsApp Messenger is the one you want.
