Quick answer

Enter your date of birth in the calculator below to see your exact age in years, months and days, along with your age in total weeks and days and a countdown to your next birthday. It uses today’s date on your device.

Age calculator

Pick your birthday above

Your age changes on your birthday, not on January 1, so the calculator counts full years since you were born, then the leftover months and days.

How age is calculated

  1. Years: Subtract your birth year from this year. If your birthday hasn’t happened yet this year, subtract one more.
  2. Months: Count the full months since your last birthday.
  3. Days: Count the days since that last full month.

For a quick check in your head: someone born on March 15, 2000 turns 26 on March 15, 2026, and is still 25 the day before.

What if you were born on February 29?

Leap day babies only get a real birthday every four years. In common years, most people celebrate on February 28 or March 1. For legal purposes the answer depends on the country: in the UK, for example, you’re treated as turning a year older on March 1, while some other places use February 28.

Either way, you age at the same rate as everyone else. Someone born on February 29, 2000 turned 26 in 2026, even though they’ve had only six “real” birthdays.

Different ways of counting age

Not every culture counted age the same way. In the traditional Korean age system, babies were considered one year old at birth and everyone gained a year on New Year’s Day. South Korea officially switched to the international system for legal and administrative purposes in June 2023, though many people still mention their Korean age in conversation.
